Mr Archibald's Goodbye
Dear Regents Park Community
As I have written in the Regents Review, it is strange saying goodbye to Regents Park. The school has been my home for 12 years, longer than I have spent in any other school or job. The last 5 years since I took over as headteacher have been the most amazing. I have seen the school change, improve and become an aspirational place for students to learn and teachers to develop. The school has now become oversubscribed and will see that confidence be rewarded with the £4.2 m investment.
Why leave now? The school is in a brilliant position, Mrs Samantha Barnes, who is taking over as Headteacher has been instrumental in the improvements and I have every confidence in her and her team leading the school to greater things. Some may say that it was unlucky to have an Ofsted two days before I leave. I relished the opportunity for the two inspectors to visit the school. The positive results of the inspection will be shared as soon as I am allowed to distribute them.
So I am off to a new challenge, in a new environment as Principal of Global Academy, London. I will certainly be taking much of what I have learnt here, unfortunately not Spencer, he belongs to Mrs Barnes and is staying at Regents.
I wish parents, students and the staff the very best for the future. I will be back to see rock challenge in April, but also to Southampton as my daughter is at Southampton University.
Kind wishes and thanks
