Information & Communication Technology
This exciting and innovative department has embraced the new national curriculum and is at the forefront of driving forward digital literacy at Regents Park Community College.
The curriculum at Key Stage 3 offers students a balance between the digital literacy skills they need for working with software and hardware, and the necessary understanding of computer science and computational thinking. Embedded into the course is the teaching of e-safety, where students are taught how to stay safe online as well as being educated about cyberbullying.
Recent developments to the curriculum have seen the introduction of coding and programming skills and this forms part of the Year 9 Regents Park Community College Computing Award. Covering a range of key topics, students work toward achieving a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum award by the end of Key Stage 3.
At Key Stage 4 students are currently offered a Level 1 and 2 qualification in the OCR Cambridge National for ICT. Results are consistently better than national and students make excellent progress.
