This week a select group of Regents Park students were given the opportunity to attend Farm School. The owner commented on how well behaved they were saying they “were the best bunch of kids” that had ever visited: they were polite, keen and respectful of the needs of the animals. He also commented on their huge smiles!
The visit could not have been more perfectly timed: two calves had just been born and students were the first to see one calf suckling its mother for the first time – a magical experience.
Victor, the horse, now has a beautifully plaited mane and tail courtesy of some students, while others learned that farm work isn’t just about petting animals, but involves dirty work too. One student got stuck into the ‘mucking out’ and others had to tramp through mud.
