Cameo Concert

On the 27th March 2017, twelve students from Regents Park Community College travelled to the CAMEO Club who meet at the Shirley Salvation Army Hall every Monday to treat them to a forty five minute concert.  The pupils were handpicked from year 10 and year 8 in order to demonstrate the range of musical talents Regents Park has to offer.  The concert involved a range of musical items from a broad spectrum of genres including vocal solos from the musicals Wicked, Hairspray, and Chorus Line by Eleanor Hartley and Mitzi Kirkham.  A further vocal rendition of Jerry Lee Lewis’ ‘Great Balls of Fire’ by Masson Baddams got the audience clapping along.  In addition two piano solos included the theme to Pirates of the Caribbean performed by Steve Johnson  and a grade 4 Waltz played by Charlie Radford .  An ensemble of Flues and Violins brought a specially arranged version of Londonderry Aire to the mix and involved Bethany Hurst, Vicky Andrews Mathilda Parker and Jessica  Leonard.  The guitar solos were performed by two year 10 music students Alex Keith and Louie Batchelor who both performed Shadows numbers including ‘Apache’ and ‘Foot Tapper’.

The students behaviour and performances were impeccable and the members of the CAMEO Club were delighted with the afternoons entertainment and look forward to the next concert.  A massive ‘Well Done’ to all the pupils who were involved with this fantastic event.
